ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Painting is an endless balancing process: technique and content, emotion and intellect, control and freedom, negative and positive, the painted area and the surface. When the balance is well drawn it is restorative and reflects the serenity and order that I strive to convey in my work.
The illusion of the paper surface holds a fascination for me – areas left for the viewer to complete – the paper taking a new position in the picture plane.
At its best, painting reflects the fine balance that is life itself.
